The
following database changes were made to all eMedic
version 3.8 products. Most of these changes were based on the 2005
Guidelines.
- Added 10 acronyms.
- Added six algorithms: BLS Algorithm
(Adult), BLS Algorithm (Child), Bradycardia Algorithm, ECG
Interpretation, Pulseless Arrest, and Tachycardia Algorithm.
- Added two medicines: Compazine and
Naropin.
- Added nine treatments: Avulsed Tooth,
Drowning, Poisoning-Absorbed, Poisoning-Carbon Monoxide,
Poisoning-Ingested, Poisoning-Inhaled, Poisoning-Injected, Smoke
Inhalation, and Suicide (attempted).
- Made minor changes to
approximately 100 existing records.
- The database now contains more than
1,526 records.

The
following database changes were made to all eMedic
version 3.7 products:
- Added Dosage Calculator and/or Drip Calculator defaults to more than 35 medicine records. Refer to the
General Revision History for details on this
change.
- Added approximately 30 anatomy records to support the new
anatomical images
and added many
new tap-map links between the existing anatomical images.
- Added comments regarding potentially confusing acronyms per
JCAHO guidelines to approximately 12
records.
- Minor text changes
were made to approximately 15 records.
- The database now contains more than
1,500 records.

The medical database in all eMedic
version 3.6 products was extensively revised:
- More than 250 records were added and more than 400 were revised. eMedic
now includes almost 1,500 records.
- More than 100 medicines were added and more than 250 were updated. These
include all popular prescription and emergency medications. Information on the effects, contraindications, precautions,
side effects, routes, and dosage were added to many medicine
records.
- Several algorithms were added
including Aspirin Administration, CPR, and Glucose Levels.
- Several
treatments were added
including Crush Injury/Syndrome, Hypocalcemia, Hypercalcemia, Hypokalemia, Hyperkalemia, Hyponatremia, and Hypernatremia.

The following changes were made to the medical database. These changes are
in the most recent version of eMedic (eMedic for Palm,
eMedic for Pocket PC,
eMedic for Windows,
and eMedic Editor).
- Three new algorithms were added: BLS Stroke Assessment, Foreign-Body Airway
Obstruction, and Rapid Sequence Intubation.
- Added treatments for High Altitude Cerebral Edema and High Altitude Pulmonary
Edema.
- All algorithms were reviewed and minor changes were made. These included
adding medicine dosages, clarifying treatments, and adding more links to other records (e.g., medicines, acronyms, etc.).
- More than 100 minor changes were made. These included many more "See Also"
references between records and minor clarifications.
